Born in 1995, Gilles Libert is a Belgian architect and sculptor.

He has numerous sculptures installed in public spaces; in front of the ULB University of Solvay, the new bridge of Tilff ot the new cityhall of Fleurus, to name but a few. At twenty-nine years old, he is the youngest participating artist of the Art d’Egypte exposition 2024 in collaboration with Jean Boghossian. In his monumental-scale artistic production, he fuses architecture, sculpture and digital technologies. His innovative approach uses 3D modelling and tools, enabling him to explore dynamic forms inspired by nature in constant motion. He designs bespoke steel sculptures, often integrated into public spaces, that seek to establish a symbolic dialogue with their surroundings and to provoke interaction with the viewer. His artworks capture ephemeral, subtly poetic moments, enriching the space they occupies.

Libert completed his bachelor’s and master’s studies in architecture at UCL / LOCI Brussels, and at the same time he studied sculpture at the Académie des Arts de Braine l’Alleud. Since November 2020, he has served as a project manager at Melens & Dejardin, a metalworking company specializing in the creation of sculptures and architectural elements. Simultaneously, he chairs the non-profit organization “Square de la sculpture,” organizing an annual exhibition of monumental sculptures at Square Armand Steurs in Brussels and teaches “computational design” at the university UCL/Loci Brussels.
